EU Safety Board Discovered Hidden and Unintended Viral Genes in GMO Crops

New discovery of genetic material from multiple strains of the Cauliflower Mosaic Virus(CaMV) has been found in more than half of all varieties of GMO crops, posing potential risk to not only the plants themselves, but to consumers and farmers as well as it has the potential to damage and alter human genetics as well.
While it has long been recognized that GMOs may have negative effects that we were not yet aware of, and of course pesticides aren't very healthy either, but we've always been told that the scientists were in complete control of what was getting put into the plants genes and that it couldn't "come out". We now have confirmation that is not only incorrect, but after the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) discovered this significant viral intrusion, their risk assessment has since been completed and it has been deemed a potential risk to cause significant harm to consumers as well as farmer's crops.
Gene VI (the viral gene found) comes from the Cauliflower Mosaic Virus, a relative of the infamous Tobacco Mosiac Virus, and is believed to contain enough information to become an active infection in at least some plants. The virus works in two basic ways, by genetically "turning off" the plant's immune functions and generally causing fungus issues and yellowing rotting, and by causing cells to create more copies of the virus (as that's what all viruses do). Due to the type of genetic material found and its potential to mutate by combining with some of the plant's genes, there is significant potential that it could cross over and become a potent viral agent for humans and turning off vital human genetic functions and causing harm in ways that we cannot fully predict at this time.
Simply put, this is another major nail in the coffin for current methods of GMO crops being produced along with recent studies demonstrating they clearly cause cancer in rats, that they cause liver and kidney damage in mammals, and that the associated pesticides used are damaging to people, animals, honeybees and other pollinators, and to the ecological zone itself in a long term and chronic fashion. Time to go back to square one on this massive experiment and begin using some caution instead of ignorant claims such as "Generally Recognized As Safe".
